"Maan Karate" (Deer Karate) is actor Sivakarthikeyan's 5th film after delivering back to back hits where director Thirukumaran also makes his debut with this fantasy comedy film. Peter (Sivakarthikeyan) falls for Yazhini (Hansika) and pretends to be a boxer just to impress her as she is a sports lover. In an attempt to prove his love for her, Peter has to win a boxing tournament. With the help of his friends, he somehow manages to reach the finals by using his special techniques only to face a menacing opponent who is also named Peter (Vamsi Krishna). Who will win the tournament forms the rest of the gripping story. Sivakarthikeyan with his usual comical dialogues manages to evoke laughter every other moment and he has vastly improved his dance moves as well. Hansika looks stunning in the song sequences, but has a lesser scope to play here. Sathish and Soori manage to generate some good laughter with their comical lines, while Vamsi Krishna who only appears in the second half gives a lasting impression as a menacing boxer.
